Local Japanese cooking and izakaya really exude the characteristics of the local cuisine, so if possible we recommend you going out for dinner at night. There are many truly high quality restaurants located right near Ebisubashi-suji. The grand champions of Japanese cooking and Naniwa cuisine are "Kawase", located on Hozenji Koisan street, and "Kigawa" and "Honkogetsu", both located on Hozenji Yokocho Street. They are true works of art. If you want an izakaya with a classy feel, try "Shobentan Gotei" on Hozenji Yokocho Street. It is the oldest shop on Hozenji Yokocho Street. The miso dengaku is superb.

For an izakaya frequented by locals, "Nishiki" is located right next to Ebisubashi-suji. The west side of Mido-suji, an area called Namba Rakuza, is home to many izakaya including those patronized daily by the locals which are inexpensive and at-home such as "Daimaruya" and "Yamasan". We also recommend "Masamuneya" on Aiaubashi-suji.
